Fall at Camp Riva Lake is wonderful We had such great weather and campers for our Fall Weekend! Most everyone arrived on a crisp Friday afternoon in October to set up their bunks and settle into cabins in time for dinner. We had a quick vespers followed by fun in the Playhouse as everyone got to know one another. Before calling it a night, we had milk and crackers at the arbor.
Saturday was really a good look into a day at camp. Mothers and daughters and alumni rotated between tennis, archery, and arts and crafts in the morning. Penny Pigmen shared her skills as an archer. I was able to dust off the cobwebs from my tennis raquet to give a few lessons, and our past head counselor Amberly did a fine job helping everyone tie dye their new Fall Weekend 2013 t-shirts. After lunch we headed down to the lake for swimming and paddle boarding. It was unseasonal warm in the water! The girls then helped make a video to Walk Along the Lake. Dinner again was followed by vespers and an evening of games before everyone headed to cabins after a very full day at camp.
Sunday was just glorious! We began the day at flagpole in our pj's and headed up to Council Ring after breakfast for Sunday School which was lead by alumni Georgia and current camper"s mom Jennifer. Several of our campers went on a hike into Shangrila while many of us headed out to the Elk River for a canoe trip. We really could not have asked for a more beautiful day. The girls were begging for more lake time when we got home so out came the paddle boards again. We had our final vespers before heading up to the Marathon meeting place for a little campfire time with s'mores.
Monday morning, we all packed up and headed our separate ways grateful for the time at camp and looking forward to seeing everyone next Fall! We hope you all can join us next year for this special time at camp.
